We recommend these places according to your tastes:
Arroyo de la Luz - 15 min
Located just 15 minutes from Cáceres, is the parish of Our Lady of la Asunción in which you can admire a beautiful altarpiece, the work of the renowned painter named El Divino Morales. It is also advisable to enjoy a pleasant walk through the Dehesa Boyal (pastureland) and under its centenary oaks.

Trujillo- 30 min
Trujillo, located between the meadows of the Tagus and Guadiana rivers, is home to an important group of churches, castles and manor houses that are structured around its Plaza Mayor and is declared a Cultural Interest Asset. But, in addition, this city of Cáceres has left an important mark in history, since in the 16th century it was the cradle of illustrious characters linked to the Discovery of America. For this reason, Trujillo is framed in the middle of the Route of the Conquistadors, which crosses other localities of Extremadura such as Medellín, Villanueva de la Serena or Jerez de los Caballeros.

Routes through Los Barruecos - 30 min
Within the natural space of Los Barruecos, you can enjoy four relatively easy routes of different duration:
- Geological and Archaeological Heritage Route (2 hours). A section of this 1.5 km long route, accessible to people with reduced mobility, is known as the Route of the Senses and is also equipped with explanatory panels in Braille system.
- Las Charcas Route (3 hours)
- Barrueco de Arriba Route (1 hour)
- Route of the Peñas del Tesoro (30 minutes)
The point is located in a typical treeless landscape, dedicated to pasture for livestock and the cultivation of winter cereal. It is one more of the pseudosteppe spaces of the region next to the Llanos de Zorita, the Llanos de Trujillo and the Llanos de Magasca. Undoubtedly the steppe birds are the most prominent in this space. To them (bustard, little bustard, Montagu's harrier, etc.), we have to add a good number of birds of prey, among which we highlight the vultures, that use the space for their feeding given the cattle character of the zone (griffon vulture, black vulture and Egyptian vulture). The fact of not having any legal protection on this environment does not detract from the importance from the point of view of birds. In fact, the point is located in the centre of IBA 296 Trujillo-Torrecillas de la Tiesa.

Monfragüe National Park - 1 h.
The diverse and very different ecosystems that make up the Monfragüe Special Protection Area for Birds and the surrounding meadows have favoured the proliferation of a varied fauna in this protected area of Cáceres, the second largest in Extremadura. Ornithological tourism enthusiasts will find Monfragüe to be a unique bird observatory in Europe. Within the great variety of winged fauna of the park, we can find species such as Black Vultures and Griffon Vultures, Imperial Eagle, Royal and Bonelli's Eagle, Black Stork, Kestrel, Hoopoe, among many other protected birds.

Christ of the Victory, Serradilla - 1h
Inside the Monastery of Cristo de la Victoria, in Serradilla, there is one of the most important religious images of Extremadura's artistic heritage: The Christ of the Victory, a work by the sculptor Domingo de Rioja. In addition, it has an important artistic collection of which the collection of paintings belonging to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries stands out. Founded as a hospital, the building became a convent in the 17th century and is currently inhabited by Augustinian Recollect cloistered nuns.
To enter the heart of the Sierra de San Pedro, we must move in the direction of Herreruela. All this journey is exceptional to observe deer, even during the bellowing. When autumn arrives, the weather begins to change, and the days become shorter. It is here that we can hear the first screams in the meadows and clearings of the woods. The males also begin to mark their territory, and the fights between the strongest deer begin. The violent clash of the antlers and the sounds of the bellowing offer a natural spectacle that is worth living. September is the best month to enjoy it.

Mérida - 1 h.
Mérida, the capital of Extremadura, in the west of Spain, was founded by the Romans in the 1st century BC. There are remains of the ancient Roman city, such as the Theatre, a space that is still in operation and is used to house the prestigious annual Mérida Theatre Festival.
Another of the wonders that we can find is the 792m Roman bridge that extends over the Guadiana River until it joins the Alcazaba and the 9th-century Islamic fortress built on the Roman walls. Many other ruins and Roman buildings stand out in the city, such as the Amphitheatre, the Circus and the Aqueduct, among many other wonders such as the Basilica of the Martyr Santa Eulalia in which we recommend visiting the oratory dedicated to the martyr, popularly known as "El Hornito".

The Serradilla Route
The town of Serradilla, located in the heart of the natural environment of the Monfragüe Park, offers a multitude of routes. We recommend, without doubt, the longest of the proposals, which unites the town of Serradilla with its own hamlet, Villarreal de San Carlos. Crossing an immense Mediterranean mountain landscape, interspersed with small crops and pine groves, we reach our destination, but not before crossing several streams, such as Barbaón and almost at the end of the route, the stream of Malvecino, coinciding this Route-6 with the Route of Cerro Gimio. Being a long route, which crosses a varied landscape, the possibility of observing a multitude of species in their habitat is very high. The presence of large birds of prey such as the black vulture, the imperial eagle, the Bonelli's eagle or the short-toed eagle is noteworthy. There are also smaller birds of prey such as the goshawk or the sparrowhawk, as well as an endless list of small passiriformes.
Visits to the nature interpretation centres in Villarreal de San Carlos and the one in "La huella del hombre (the mark of the man) in Monfragüe" in the town of Serradilla are highly recommended.

Alcántara - 1h.
The Alcántara Reservoir is located in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, province of Cáceres, in the municipality of the same name. When its construction was completed in 1969, the dam was used to generate electricity and supply water to nearby towns and Cáceres (through a transfer). With a length of almost 100 km and tributaries of rivers such as Alagón, Almonte, Tiétar, Fresnedoso, Arrago among others, forming arms of several km. Its maximum depth is 112 m. In its day it was the second-largest water reserve in Europe.

Royal Monastery of Guadalupe - 1:45 hours
The Monastery of Guadalupe is one of the essential visits during your stay in Extremadura. It is a unique religious building, a mixture of Gothic, Mudéjar, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical styles, built between the 13th and 18th centuries. The monastery has been a World Heritage Site since 1993 and is the second most important place of pilgrimage in Spain, behind the tomb of the apostle Santiago, in Compostela.

International Tagus river route - 1:15 hours
The boat, which links Spain and Portugal even more, makes several routes with itineraries in which endangered species are visible and the youngest Mediterranean forest in Europe.
The aim is to make them enjoy a unique natural environment and make them aware of the importance of caring for and conserving the natural environment in a park with more than 50,000 hectares of wild nature. During the river walk in the heart of the Tagus International Nature Reserve on the line that divides Spain and Portugal, an expert guide will give a nature classroom interpreting the fauna and flora of our park, where the passenger also participates.
